Well . . . I must admit that I rigged the voting process. Seeing that Willow and I only have 2 followers - and probably 3 readers, I broke the rules and voted 3 times. The worst part was that I didn't tell Willow until Saturday morning. She quickly forgave me. Looking back I wish I hadn't cheated. This restaurant DID NOT live up to the hype. Yes, if was very affordable . . . yes, it was very authentic, but . . . the food was NOT THAT GREAT. We spent well under $20.00 and purchased sushi, fried ice cream, and 2 lunch entrees. If quantity is what you want this is the place for you. I had Pad Thai and Willow had a fruit and vegetable stir fry. My Pad Thai wasn't spicy at all, and hardly had any sauce on it. Willow's food made her sick (she is still in bed). I was surprised at the small menu options for Thai food. The menu was very large, but there were only a few items that were actually Thai food. Unfortunately, Willow and I made the first "I don't like it" vote on UrbanSpoon for the Elephant Cafe. Don't feel bad for them though, the Elephant Cafe still has a 98% "I like it" rating. Next time we are feeling like Asian we will stay in the Asian District.A couple of side notes: (1) the Elephant Cafe was next to a closed LDS Bookstore; (2) Elephant Cafe was on Route 66 in downtown Bethany. It seemed like a town that has been hurt by the large I-35 which replaced Route 66; and (3) Bethany is the home to the Southern Nazarene University.
