Hike to top of Squaw Peak with Andrew and Andrew last October
(elevation gain = 1,190 feet in 1.2 miles) |
Okay, so this is getting a tad ridiculous. I really need to get Andrew to start writing something here. I feel like I've hijacked this blog and used it as a forum for all my self-induced drama. I tend to say the same thing over and over recently: I need to be productive, I need to use my time wisely, I need to change. While it is all well and good to remind
myself of these things, everyone else probably doesn't need to hear me rehash these same sentiments month after month. So, I will try to be better at breaking up the personal introspection that I've been indulging in and start providing more updates about what we actually do.
I really enjoyed my
mother-in-law's post over at the Curtis family blog. She provided a little over a month's worth of updates (via pictures) highlighting all the recent family celebrations. I'm going to steal her idea and show you some pictures of our recent weekend adventures.
We've probably done more, but I either a.) can't remember or b.) have no photographic evidence, so you are going to have to make do with these:
May 19 - One of our first weekends with no where to be
and nothing we had to do
We decided to buy a shower curtain, sad highlight, but there it is |
Here's our old shower curtain...
or the back of it. It was actually dark brown |
| May 13 - Went to Syracuse, UT for Mother's Day |
Andrew's parents being hams for the camera
while mom opened her mother's day gifts |
Eliza really liked the flowers mom got for mother's day
Isn't she darling! |
May 12 - Driving to see The Avenger's...Can you tell Andrew's excited?
Can't see it in this picture, but my legs are pointed towards the other window,
Ashley is sitting on my lap, Dad is sitting where my legs normally would be,
and Andrew's squished against the door |
May 8 - We get our Vitamix back! Sent it off to be fixed on May 1
Really, Really missed it when it was gone, think I'm too attached
| May 5 - Rugby Quarterfinals: BYU (103) vs UCLA (24)
May 4 - Andrew's book falls on his head in the middle of the night.
He wakes up thinking I threw it at him.
We go to our friends house to play the best game of all time: Hand and Foot
Andrew tells them about my abusive ways :) |
April 27-28 - Work retreat with Andrew's boss and his wife
in Midway, Utah |
While the Andrews brainstorm about work
(yes, Andrew's boss is also named Andrew),
Kathryn (the other Andrew's wife) and I decide to go for a hike...
there were a lot of fallen logs to climb over |
That kinda looks like a trail, right?
We ended up forging our own trail for a bit
and the path we took was very steep |
We decided to turn around when we got to the top of a hill
Midway is down in the valley between the trees
Hard to see because of my stupid camera phone |
April 21 - Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival
with friends and my little bro
This is Kendra's picture, I forgot my camera |
| April 21 - Rugby Game: BYU (99) vs Colorado (12) |
April 13 - 15 Road trip to Arizona with the parents
We had a lot of fun talking and listening to
The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchet |
| Glen Canyon Dam in Northern AZ |
| Glen Canyon Bridge
| [Insert witty dam joke here]
| Mom and I insisted on stopping to take pictures of flowers |

One of my favorite rooms at Cove Fort was the laundry
Our guide told us about the true meaning of recycling:
They used ticking cloth to cover mattress, when cloth wore out
it was cut up to make trousers, when pants wore out,
they were cut into strips and woven on loom to make rugs... |
Rugs woven out of the old ticking were used all over the fort
When they wore out, they were burned for heat,
the ashes were extracted from the bottom of the box
and used to make lye soap for washing
Don't get me started on the hair art or hair in pin cushions
used to keep needles sharp and rust free (oily scalp anyone?) |
April 14 - Our nephew Isaac is baptized as a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
I was honored that Isaac asked me to speak
("borrowed" this picture from Amy's blog) |
| Isaac gives crazy street performer change |
Andrew's sister Amy and her husband Joseph
grilling up some tasty food
Joseph used mesquite wood from a tree in their yard
| Little Megan is adorable... I think she knows it :)
| Lydia showed us that she is the fastest bike rider in the WORLD |
Uncle Andrew asked to pose with the world's fastest bike rider
Should have gotten this autographed! |
Not to be outdone, Isaac showed off his tricks and skills with bike stunts
He can weave through lines of people and high five, all while riding fast |
| Bang!
April 7 - We tie dye shirts for fun
and take some silly pictures the next day with Andrew's family |
We celebrate Ashley's 21st birthday
by playing drinking games without alcohol |
April 6 - Zorro, The Musical. Went with friends
The performance was great,
but I kept getting distracted by Zorro's pasty chest...
He should have gotten a spray tan |
March 24 - Hike up the canyon somewhere with little bro
Took Big Springs Trail |
| Andrew carried our water |
| Me plodding along. I am so out of shape! |
| View from the top |
| Andrew and Andrew |
After our hike I cut the Andrews' hair
Andrew C. helped me out by vacuuming Andrew T. off |
Feb 21 to March 6 - Flew to Oregon to stay with my 93 y.o. grandpa
My parents were on a cruise,
so we had the house all to ourselves (party time!) |
